Marketing Your Music, Books & Art: Ask This Mind-Expanding Question

Asking this simple, mind-expanding question could change everything

Many artists compartmentalize their creativity.

They easily apply expansive thinking and innovation to their craft. However, when it comes to marketing and sharing their work with the public, they suddenly become close-minded.

The most successful creative people are visionaries in many areas. They don’t limit their talents to the canvas, stage, page, or recording studio.

One simple way to generate great ideas for exposing your music, books, and art is to ask this simple question:

“What would happen if …?”

Then use your imagination to complete the sentence.

Think big. Be silly. Get outrageous. Use ideas from other industries.

  • Wrote a music jingle for a popular morning radio show?
  • Or put together a kazoo marching band?
  • Or encouraged fans to dress like superheroes at your next event?

See how fun and creative this can be?

TIP: Don’t judge or be too critical of the ideas you come up with as you brainstorm.

There will be plenty of time to assess and think logically later.

For now, just complete the question using your creative “artist hat” instincts. And do it over and over again until you run out of ideas.

You never know. This fun exercise could uncover a marketing idea or two that will launch you into a new stage of your career.

So, never forget to ask:

“What would happen if …?”
